As a beautiful friend said to me recently, 'the path of truth is not an easy one...'
As we begin to clear out our 'stuff' (our old patterns, programs, reactions and blockages) it becomes clearer and clearer what is real for us, that is to say, what is our 'truth'.
We are connecting not just with who we think we are, our personality, our likes and dislikes - it's so much deeper than that.
Many of those things are surface level, simply our 'clothing' so to speak. As our dear friend Eckhart Tolle says, the positive qualities of our personality are most often our true self (our soul/spiritual essence) shining through, so we don't need to fear that we will lose them on this path.
When we reach deeper, down into the depth and breadth of who we truly are, we begin to understand what's important to us - which values and qualities to build the foundation for our lives upon so that we may truly honour ourselves.
This is where things get tricky for our human selves - particularly our minds and our animal instincts.
Because to know and understand the truth is amazing, and can be utterly liberating.
But to act on the truth, to 'walk the path of truth', takes true courage, discipline and perseverance.
It requires us to let go of who we believe ourselves to be and how we operate in the world. We are often called to break agreements we've made with ourselves and others, consciously or unconsciously, and make new choices in uncharted territory.
It causes us to question everything, and invites us to move through the fear to create positive change.
Dedication to this path is the way to the light - to expressing your true essence and living your best life. The life you came here for, but not always the life that's most comfortable, or the life free of pain and challenges.
For me, and for many of you (though we may at times resist this knowing!) the choice is no choice at all.
We are human, in an imperfect world. There will always be struggle and pain here, regardless of whether we choose the path of truth or try to avoid it at all costs.
But the ripple effects of this choice, this series of small choices to follow your own path, they are massive.
You will never truly know who you are, what you're made of, what you're capable of, what your gifts are, unless you walk this way.
And when one of us does this, we light the way for others.
We become a beacon of light that sparks transformation.
This is the way to healing and liberation, for us as individuals and as a collective.
There is no time to waste. If you make the choice to walk the path of truth, you will be challenged, but always supported. In your darkest moments and in the joy of the light.
"Only the truth of who you are, if realized, will set you free." - Eckhart Tolle
